Barton Road - 21 January

#1 Post by Cj10 »

For those of you who turned up at Barton Road, all I can say again is sorry.

I've got the paperwork from Landmarc in my hand as I write this, which confirms today's range date being allocated to the Grove. As I've received no cancellation notice/ phone call from Landmarc I have no idea why the range warden failed to appear.

I will be ringing first thing Monday to find out what happened, and will update this topic at that time. Driving home this morning I looked at the positives. I didn't need to clean the rifle, still got plenty of ammo for the next long range shoot, didn't get wet, and had a enjoyable chat with Tony who travelled with me!

Alan, I will be mentioning to Landmarc exactly how far people travelled today. I had a 170 mile round trip, costing me around £28 in diesel. This is the second time they've done this to the Grove in 12 months. We got thrown off Robins Lodge last year, and we were told we had been notified of the cancellation, when we had not.

It may be I ring Landmarc 24 hours before each range date in future, to make sure they haven't "notified" me of a cancellation!

And I'm kinda glad I'd kept my "domestic" powder dry and not negotiated a day on the range just a day before we're due to have a three generation family visit for the week: the brownie points derived therefrom are greater by a factor of n to the power of three than the few measly points which I might have clawed back had I got the day booked and then returned home tail 'twixt legs!!

As it was I greeted with "Are you home already?" More points :shakeshout:

It's just a thought and I can't imagine it being an issue but as I work in Thetford if ever anything needs picking up from Landmarc at West Tofts...

Not to worry Ceri, such things happen. It will be interesting to hear what happened though. I am always up for a midweek slot instead if that is all they can offer.

UPDATE - THis morning Landmarc confirmed to me they had notified the range warden of our booking and he should have been at Barton Road. Landmarc are investigating, to establish exactly what happened.

Thanks for the update Ceri, I assume the club will not have to pay for the booking?

No, we won't have to pay and Landmarc kindly found an additional Robins Lodge date for us, namely 18 March.

A new Barton Road date would have been good however I assume it is just about booked up this time of year? No matter we have a long range day 18th February to look forward to.
