Re: De Lisle
Nothing to say that's it's original and nothing to say it isn't? :-P
Someone with real knowledge (not me) would know on inspection.

Re: De Lisle
I'd be interested in finding out how well a de Lisle performs at 300 yards. The .45ACP can get there, but I'm not sure if it could manage a respectable group...

Re: De Lisle
I'm fairly sure Peter Starley (Midway UK) has a repro De Lisle sitting in his shop. Whether it's for sale is another question...

Re: De Lisle
It all depends on what your expectations are. At the time they were happy with a 1.5x1 inch group at 20 yards.meles meles wrote:I'd be interested in finding out how well a de Lisle performs at 300 yards. The .45ACP can get there, but I'm not sure if it could manage a respectable group...
My Destroyer Carbine (9mm Largo) has sights calibrated out to 700m  but realistically 200m is about it.

Re: De Lisle
By 'respectable group', I don't mean ten tounds in a 2inch circle, just one tight enough to guarantee that all rounds fired would end up on the paper at 300m. RCO's tend to get a ikkle bit grumpy otherwise.
And another thing to ask you wise oomans: with a DeLisle, what would be the best round to put through it? Standard FMJ ammunition, or cast boolits? I'm wondering if boolits are just asking for trouble in a slow moving projectile exposed to hot propellant gases and lots of baffles.

Re: De Lisle
Apparently the modern one much prefers to be fed jacketed bullets to the degree that C&G say do not use lead. I was looking at the schematics for the DeLisle this morning, I did not realise how short the barrel is, it stops not much forward of the rear sight with a lot of baffles after that, no wonder they are so quiet.
Re: De Lisle
I have got the C and G one and am very happy with it, the engineering on it is superb. I have to use lead in mine as our range is not suitable for fmj. It shoots well with either but is certainly cleaner with the jacketed stuff. I would have thought that if the one for sale is original it will be very expensive and would it not be Sec 5 as it has a 7 1/2 inch barrel?
I have shot mine out to 200 and it was okay once we realised the sight settings were about 10 feet out !!!!! It shot very high and right. It shoots very well at 50 yards though.
Let us know how you get on when you get yours, they are very addictive and great fun to use.
Regards.

I enjoy my shooting but usually get a better group with the empty cases !!!!

Re: De Lisle
Yeah, a real De Lisle would be Section 5, unfortunately!
