GUNS outnumber people in 24 Victorian towns a special investigation has revealed and the figures have horrified the anti-gun lobby.

I just had a quick look through the comments pages and for the most part it was just shooters, yet again having to point out the obvious to the hand-wringers i.e. it isn't law-abiding shooters that commit firearms crime. This gem stood out for me though;

PLEASE COULD SOME ONE TELL ME WHY DOES ANYONE APART FROM THE POLICE NEED A PISTOL ? I have a gun licence and did the appropriate course to get one but when I was shown what guns can do to humans accidently or other wise I gave up the idea of owning one and took up some other past time rather than go shooting.

Please can you advise me why anyone would need a car? I really wanted a car, so I applied of the licence, completed the physical and theroy test, bought a car, but when I found out that road accidents account for 30,000 + deaths a year I gave up the idea of driving and took up a safer past time... like shooting.

If no one apart from the police had pistols (guns) then WHY would the police need pistols oer guins in the firstb place. They would have NO need for them.

The other arguments are well posted already.

As for the muppet who bought a gun and changed his/her mind..we can only be thankful that such an idiot does NOT have a gun. It sounds actually like someone who used to post on GT many moons ago..lots of strange questions, repeated ad nauseum.

God help us the day only the police have guns....we have seen the results of that time and time again in history!
