1:2 scale firearms

I was looking at a site tonight that builds 1:2 scale firearms, these things are perfect in every way even down to 1:2 ammunition, truly inspirational work and strictly rich collectors stuff only. Anyway it set me thinking... I have always fancied making a scale firearm and I fancy a 250 hour project but the problem is whatever I made would end up as S5 due to either scale or the model so the trick is to make sure it does not function which means stopping at some point, an easy way of doing this is to have a solid barrel.

Now my question is would this still be legal? I have early patent drawings for a 1911 which might be a suitable candidate but once I got beyond the frame would the manufacture of such a thing be legal? I would build it out of light alloy as it is easier to work with so in theory it would never stand up to firing anyway.

Does anyone have a view on this, can I do such a thing and what would be a good candidate for a first time build?

What rules would apply of it was made in an obsolete caliber??

Or a primer-powered, multi-barreled spud gun...

No I'm sorry, there never were any plans - I read an article about Derringers in general in an issue of Guns and Ammo and there were several types illustrated. I made this one by looking at the pictures and guessing the rest, so not really a true scale model. I have since seen several full sized pistols of this type but there are so many very similar versions out there I feel mine is a fair representation. It's basically a cheaper copy of a Colt No3 pocket pistol, the Colt having a spring ejector but the cheaper, simpler version would need a poke through the barrel to eject a tight case.
