Recommend me a new calibre please

#1 Post by Tower75 »

Hi guys, and girlies

I have two open allowances on my FAC, a .577 ML and a .357/.38

The first one is no longer needed as the rifle's been sold, I'm not really sure I want a .357 rifle to be honest.

All of my stuff is military-surplus, so I'd like something else in that area. I probably wont be looking to buy until the second half of the year - but what other calibres can you recomend to me?

I've currently got .303 and 7.92x57mm

I'm leaning towards 8x56R and 7.62x54R, but what do you think?

Regards

What about a Krag of some form? They are available is various chamberings. I know it is an odd suggestion but if you like the look of the rifle then that is a good start.

I was going to suggest a Krag 8x58RD but I only know of one and I doubt she is going to get rid anytime soon....

What about a nice Swedish 'Mauser' in 6.5 x 55?

I was gonna' suggest 6.5x55 SKAN and the 7.5x55 Swiss.

Both are awesome!

A Krag of some form also sounds rather interesting.

A Krag would be loverly, but I've never even seen one, with my own MkI eyes I mean, and I bet they're pricey. [Sigh] I'll be rich one day, honest.

6.5mm might be a good shout. I had forgotten about 7.5 Swiss - thanks.

Are Ariskas worth looking at?

... sod it, I might just get another .303 :0037:

Also, just thought. What about a French MAS... are they around at all, and not stupid money?

Hi

What about 30-06 Springfield.... .303 No4 P17/P14

If you were thinking of a Mosin Sniper make sure it's not a refurb or made up one, like in the guntrader link...

Another Mauser :good:

Cheers, but nah. I dislike telescopic sights, don't know why.

I was thinking of .30-06, but I'm not paying a grand for a M1903 and I've got a P14, so I don't fancy an M1917.

Another Mauser is always an idea. Might get a Yugo carbine, they're cheap-ish, I think. There are parts of my current Mauser that I dislike, so I might see if I can trade it/sell it. Hmmm... too many ideas me thinks :cool2:

The refurb Russian 'snipers' can shoot very well even with light ball, certainly under 2MOA at 100 yards.
