A useful tool for reloading
Hello and Happy New Year.
I have been messing around recently trying to find a way to make powder measuring a little less tedious. After an evening of measuring I always end up with a sore neck and eye fatigue from straining to line up the pointer and scale on my beam scales. I took a flyer and brought a macro web cam with focus ring, fixed it up to a dti stand and plugged it into the lap-top. Bingo it works a treat! The web cam is an IPEVO Pov which cost me £5.00 from Eblag and comes with software, mounting bracket and instructions. I was a bit concerned that the lap-top screen/camera would somehow upset the scales but after a fair bit of checking with reference loads I can honestly say that there is no variation in loads at all
Ps. the second, close up picture, was taken with the web-cam (it does stills too!)

Very good, I do like projects like this
I find myself using a jewellers eye piece thingy on occasion to check details when in the shed machining, something like this would be ideal, I have a laptop that can be pressed into service for the shed as well.

I just mounted my scale on a shelf thats at eye level. Seems a bit over the top to me.

Re: A useful tool for reloading
Not for me, I have enough clutter on my bench with out computers, digital kit and their attendant eletric strings.
My MK1 eyeball still works if I get the distance right and decrepit as I may be getting I can still lean over to get my eye level with the pointer and mark.
I did see a prisim type thing for getting a better viewing angle and if I feel the need then I'll get one of them, simple, non digital and no electric string.

Yes thats the one Allan, must see how much the shipping on it to the UK would be as its cheap enough on its own. Fancy the yellow one, nice and cheery on the bench methinks.1066 wrote:This is the thing you are thinking about Adam -dromia wrote: I did see a prisim type thing for getting a better viewing angle and if I feel the need then I'll get one of them, simple, non digital and no electric string.
