Embarrassing shooting moments

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

Would anyone like to share there most embarrassing shooting moments?

The more memorable ones for me include shooting at the wrong frame (On more than one occasion) and then challenging the scorer, leaving my ear defenders at home. Having to explain to a very confused wife that the reason her shooting had gone haywire at 1200 was because I had forgotten to tighten the bedding screws up on her rifle, even worse on that occasion was not having the right size hex key with me to recover the situation.

Possibly my worst moment was shooting my first McQueen's at Bisley, having got to grips with the COF and the timings and all the other things I forgot to chamber my first round so cue a click and me wondering what had gone wrong

I fired a shot into the control box of Electronic targets. The targets still work! *phew* Lucky I shoot a small bullet. LOL

There is a hole in the roof over the 25m range that no-one will admit to.

And the range has no danger area.

I had a complete Varichoke assembly disappear off the end of a Mossberg once and had to wait for everyone to stop shooting so I could walk forwards to retrieve it

An old timer put his snap caps in, pointed his sg at me and did the unthinkable, twice.

I still haven't forgiven him.

Shot my first ever chrongraph with the second round of .303". It went 20 yards down range and when I picked it up it didn't even have the velocity reading on it.

Ever since then all my chronographs have had remote readouts. Haven't demolished another one, yet.

It happened 20 odd years ago and people still remind me of it.

We don't put up the steel rods on our chrono's...we use bendy straws from Berger King.

And it's one reason why I never lend mine!
