Those vids had me shouting "set up!" to the screen. The assailant already knew where the armed victim was and how many.

My own personal opinion (and its only that) is that if it were possible to 'concealed carry' a pistol then i'd want a thorough training program with a strict examination in order to be allowed. It would have to be genuinely concealed also; not like some of the jockers i saw when visiting the US with shorts, t-shirts barely covering the swollen belly and a massive colt 45 swinging from the hip, complete with additional mags!

The only real experience i have to compare is when i carried a pistol in NI. I did draw the pistol once and thankfully that was enough to disuade a couple of young idiots intent on becoming martyrs. I'm thankfull i had it and didn't need to use it, than need it and not have it.

I hold the same view as you Scotsgun, I don't mind the Idea of CCW but it needs to be treated like a car, you need to be trained it its use before you can go on the streets with it.

This video was set up to fail, the gunman always shot the lecturer then went onto the student with the gun regardless of whether or not it had been drawn, the holster itself seemed to be a huge problem for most, the CCWer's I know in the states all use open top holster, not one with a strap over the slide

The whole point of concealed is CONCEALED.... how many mags would you say is enough??? Training, tons of it available, some better than others....but you need to KEEP trainihg. Your NI experience sums it up..better to have and not need etc..

Well said dave, train train and train.and KEEP training....I hate seing CCW'ers practicing "target shooting" and taking all the time in the world to place rounds on a target, time is not something you have a lot of if you decide to draw.....then again many indoor ranges do not allow draw and fire from a holster.

As said time and time again, thre's more to it than just having a right to carry, there are mega legal and pesonal issues and responsibilities that go with it...Some folks can handle that some can not...

Here's what a lack of training and a stupid "call answerer" can amount to...almost an invitation to get the victim killed...

Three seconds from start of draw till last shot.....

Like he says every carry has advantages and disadvantages and practice is all important....His shirt could do with a wee bit of weight on the carry side to make sweeping back easier....Cross draw and small of back are to slow IMHO, both also have potential safety issues too with sweeping of innocent parties..ore so with cross draw.

Proper clothing is also essential for carry, you can buy shirts that "come apart" to enable a fast draw from concealed.

Choose kit as though your life depends on it..one day it might just.
