It has been a while since this event, but, as I sat in the Range Office, bored to tears, in came Bernard Cribbens. A lifelong admirer of Bernard, my day suddenly got better.
We talked about shooting, his time as a Para, and life in general.
A young girl came into the office, accompanied by her Dad, who said that 'Hole in the ground' was her favourite song. Bernard tried to get her to sing it with him, but she was too shy. Bernard was polite, charming and persuasive but she was still too shy. So Bernard sang it to her and for her, and I have to say, to the delight of myself and the other staff in the office.
One day, I'm going to invite Bernard to come and shoot with me and, if he accepts, buy him a pint and say thank you for all the years of pleasure, and for a highlight in my Bisley Live experience.
