Fultons Regulated P14

#1 Post by ovenpaa »

This question has been asked on another forum I am a member of, I know the type of rifle but not a lot more, can anyone help please?
I have a "Regulated by Fultons" P14 heavy barrel in .308 with PH Twin Zero rear sight. I hope you'll be able to comment on it's vintage as I have no clue.

Its a very common type of early target rifle, probably dating from 1950s (if in military woodwork) -1980s (if in a target stock).

In the earlier versions, gunsmiths such as Fultons simply cut the front woodwork off a military P14 and then screwed in an Enfield 7.62mm barrel. Later on, they used the action only in a target forend, with longer contemporary target barrels.

Did anyone ever make anything like this in .303? I have an empty .303 slot and I've been dithering on what I want for ages. One day it's a No5, then it's an SMLE, then a P14. I already have a No4 that is made up to look like a No4T - it's not authentic but it shoots well.

Prior to the advent of 7.62mm target rifles, military and civilian target shooters generally used a .303 No4. The NRA devised "Service Rifle B" for accurised rifles, and the gunsmiths generally went for centre-bedding, PH target sights, and sometimes an AJ parker "ball burnished" selected barrel.
