Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

Re: Wot Boots?
Bellevilles in our house and I still have a pair of Hunters (Gates)
Re: Wot Boots?
Salomon day to day with Meindl douvre extreme for when the going gets tough. I hate Wellies, had a pair of Le Chameau chasseur, but even they didnt last long, zips broke and top came away from sole - really poor customer service when I complained - took ages to get a replacement.

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Muck boots when squidging around in the mud.
Altbergs for hunting and walking. I've worn Altbergs since the Paras. I've jumped in them, i've tab'd in them, i've put countless hours and miles in them. Nothing compares.

Altberg make some very good motorbike boots as well. They used to be exclusively UK made however I think they have a factory overseas as well these days.Scotsgun wrote:Altbergs for hunting and walking. I've worn Altbergs since the Paras. Re: Wot Boots?
I'm still searching for the ideal wellie. I used to like Argyles but they are difficult to find now. Problem is very small feet (6 1/2!). Spend most of my time in wellies. Always thought about getting some Le Chameaux so interested in some of the negative posts above.
Re: Wot Boots?
All I can add is some comments on my Hunters. They give very little insole support and absolutely no thermal insulation, the only good thing is they seem to last forever and that is probably because I don't wear them very often.

I thought the Altbergs rang a bell when I read Scotguns post.
Motorbike boots and good stuff as well.

Re: Wot Boots?
Overpriced s***. Spent nearly £200 and they leaked at the sole within 2 months. I must have used them a whole 4 times!Watcher wrote:Always thought about getting some Le Chameaux so interested in some of the negative posts above.
Returned under warrenty for a replacement (same type). Guess what - leaking at the same point, but different foot within the month.
Returned to the shop who tried to get s*** and stated that they'd have to be returned to the manufacturer for repair. I can get very loud and obstructive when annoyed so they were replaced again, but with a different model. Two weeks later and one of the zips fell apart. I got my money back and bought a 'cheap' pair of muckboots. 3 years later and they're still going strong.
