First shoot on Sunday 8th Oct is now full with 48 Competitors taking part.
Re: Civilian Service Rifle Winter League
I remember when a certain senior person at the NRA said that it would never catch on, there was no money in it and no interest!
Well done guys, not one of my disciplines, but I hope you have a great shoot.
Hey, if it's pulling a trigger it has to be right - right?

I'm coming down to have a first bash at the Highpower on Sunday, I'm staying over Saturday night so I'll try and get down earlier to see what the CSR is about

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Alan,
The are a number of 'cross dressers' in CSR and Hi power but that doesn't make them bad people.
They are all (Well almost all - watch that JMH bloke - Navy, backs to the wall etc) good blokes and they will be delighted to see you.
CSR is fun and you'll get hooked.
I'm tempted to have a go with my number five - now there's a proper gun!
Enjoy

Re: Civilian Service Rifle Winter League
Having looked at that course of fire I am once more tempted away from F Class, interesting that they can get that many people through so many courses of fire in that amount of time.
I am wondering if I should be getting a .223 instead of the 9mm now but the last thing I need is another rifle that I am going to get stressed about load development,
Good luck and keep us updated with comps etc,

Re: Civilian Service Rifle Winter League
The results sheet for the 8th October shoot is up here. There are 48 competitors listed (which sounds like everyone) but only 3 of them are listed in the "Any Iron" category. Does this mean that there were only 3 people shooting without optics and nobody in the Historic (SMLE/No.4/No.5) category? Is this unusual for this series?
I'm asking because I'm partway through my NRA probation and would like to shoot Service Rifle next year using a No.4 with the standard sights.

Re: Civilian Service Rifle Winter League
I plan to fit some in next year with SMLE/No. 4/ No. 5, as I have all three.
Fun is the name of the game and we should have lots of that.

I know a few of the names there and probably a lot of them willl be shooting AR15s .

Most of the iron sight shooters are using open sights on straight-pull AR15 or FAL derivatives. Enfield shooters shoot in the separate Historic Class but they are few and far between, the most competitive classes being Service Optic and Practical Optic using a variety of 5.56 or 7.62mm rifles.
Next match is on 5 Nov 11.
