No way! - that's slayed me...if I'd have known I'd have introduced myself properly. It was great to meet yourself and Maurice (nice of him to show us his 'special' jungle carbine 8-) ), it was an excellent finninsh to the days shooting

That sounds like some neat shooting Dougan - I think iron sights are greatly underestimated and I think we could all benefit from going back to basics sometimes.

I had a very pleasant day there Saturday and was pleased to meet several members at lunchtime and also had a chat with Dromia and stocked up with some .357 bullets from Rog in the pavilion.

I was hoping to buy one of the new micrometre bullet seating stems for Redding dies from Norman Clarke but he had every one except the one I needed for 6mmbr.

These seem to be a bargain at the moment (Don't recall thinking that for a long time) They are less that £30 here but listed as $42 in the US.

I'll be going to the Phoenix (but for GR) and Trafalgar again next year - and will definately give the McQueen another go with the smle.

To be honest I wasn't sure what the IHAM was - I've just looked it up, and it seems pretty much the same courses of fire; so may well end up going...thanks for pointing it out...hopefully see you there :good:

I'll keep trying with the smle for fun, but do fancy something else as well for McQueens (hypothetical for some while, as I've just got a new rifle) - but here's the dilema...classic or modern? I've fancied something like an M96 mauser for a while, but could be tempted to the 'dark side' - At the meeting I had a close look at an AI similar to yours; and it wasn't what I expected...it was much heavier and more solid than I expected (see what you mean about 'indestructable'), and the bolt action was superb 8-) . I really liked it, but my dad refused to hold it  . In the year or so it'll take me save save up, I'll probably change my mind which I'd go for many times :-P

The 6,5x55 Swedish Mauser could well make a very nice iron sight McQueen rifle and there is one for sale on the forum right now. My neighbour has an original sniper version and has put 10 shots in a 2p sized patch at 100m (Rested) Amazing accuracy that way exceeds your average .303

Dougan,

You need both!

As someone's signature says:

You can't have too many guns or too much ammunition, unless your'e drowning or on fire!

I think enough of us have met other members so that when we meet members we know and see others with members they know we will realise who we all are. :? Something likt that. :)

Am I reading this right. I am quite sensative about my member meeting another member.
