Does the amount of firearms or types make a difference with how much you pay or is there a certain flat percentage they put on extra? I currently have 2 shotguns,5 rifles and a pistol if that makes any difference.

If i get finished early tomorrow i'll give them a ring.
It depends on the different companies (and their underwriters) - Like Bobbob said, the NFU wanted to know all the details, but for most 'standard' home insurers the details and amounts aren't that important (may ask if they are shotguns or rifles, how many, and total value)...it's more a question of if you have any at all, and if they are prepared to cover that on their policies (which may incur a 'loading' on the premium of a fixed percentage). That said, personally I would also make a point of telling them you have ammo/powder aswell, and ask if that is ok - if not it better you find an insurer that will, rather that take the risk....

But if anyone raises the question...I can remember were it is :)
Too late...it's in The Library...let me know any changes you wish to make to initial post...ie to protect the guilty :D ... but you can still add new posts...again let me know and I'll unlock it.
No it's ok, but thanks for the offer - I've read back through it, and I havn't even hinted who the company is, so it should be ok.

You have to be carefull though these days...we had a couple of people sacked last year for talking about the company on Faceshmuck....

I don't know Barclays policies, so can only speculate: As it's a bank 'add-on', then it will be more 'standard' than 'specialist', so it is likely that they won't want much detail, and will either say yes (with a load) or no.

So were Barclays happy to exclude your guns from your buildings and contents policies, and still insure everything else at their normal risk?

Yes Dougan.

Contents new for old, and all risks...saved £100 ish by insuring guns elsewhere. Year before all were with Barclays.

Interesting....it's not usual to exclude something like that.

One piece of advice: CANCEL YOUR INSURANCE NOW, before Dec. 1. Many new policy applicationos will ask you if you have ever had insurance cancelled or not renewed. As of Dec 1, you will have to answer 'yes' to that question, and then they will follow up with all sorts of other inquiries, or may even deny you outright.

If you cancel your insurance before Dec, 1, you can ligitimately answer 'no' to the cancellation or non-renewal issue, because you cancelled on them, not the other way around.

Besides, after being such jerks about insuring firearms, you may as well get even by having them go to all of the work to issue you a refund check for just a few week's worth of insurance.

Apart from B&C cover, how many of you have "ALL RISKS" cover for your sporting goods outside the home....

No piont in being covered at home when you could lose a packet if they get lost or damaged whilst you are out using them. Can't remeber who I used but I had ALL my kit on All Risks up to a certain level per item, might have been the AA....

ALWAYS disclose things, it is never your decision what is a material fact.
