Government announcement on Gun Control

#1 Post by Mike2 »

On 29th September, it is almost certain that the government is going to publish its response to the Home Affairs Enquiry into fireams law.

You'll see all the details on

No - it's not in reaction to the Cumbria shootings - but it was triggered by them. (pun unintentional).

It was an enquiry into Firearms controls generally

See http://www.parliament.uk/business/commi ... s-control/

But better still, watch the video - it's good ! http://news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/hi/ ... 305517.stm

Still awaiting the publication.......

On a very quick first read, I see nothing too threatening from my perspective. More worrying for airgunners and those with just
Shotguns.

The damage will come when the Committee review the various bits of legislation and consolidate them into one act, that's gonna hurt!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

Has it been released?? If so can you put on a hyperlink? Or are you just referring to the recommendations document in Mike2's post?

It hasn't been released yet (13: 37, 29/9/11) - I agree Mike357 is probably quoting from my crystal ball gazing area :)

I've spoken again to the Home Office, but it does seem that "imminent" may be referring to a geological timescale......

I'll post on our website when I get a result.

Well its time to start saving for a massive safe for my shotgun carts and for my renewal, but worst of all the absolute death of a right to own a firearm (Loss of Section 2)

I wonder what the storage requirements for straw baler clay clubs is going to be?? :?
