FACs & SGCs have shrunk.

#1 Post by Polchraine »

My new certificates arrived this morning - they are now A5 size rather than te previous A4. Text is smaller and Chief Office signature is miniscule. Now need to find a new size wallet to hold them!

And even though they are full vetted Police/Government issued documents, they are not acceptable as Proof of ID for elections! Not that I would want to show mine there, but there is no reason why they should not be - and compared to a bus pass have way more proof attached.

Perhaps they don't want random people to know who has guns and at what address which they would if you showed your FAC/SGC as proof of identity.

When I worked in a second hand computer shop they were on the list of allowed ID we could accept as proof of identity.
When a copper came in to sell some bits it turned out warrant cards weren't on the list, we had a new list faxed through a couple of days later by the local cop shop

Must be a local to you thing. Just had my renewals arrive for FAC / SGC and BP in the usual A4 format.

Northants have been A5 for a number of years to save money, they would save more if they did not have to keep reprinting them due to mistakes.
Mind you they have just paid the chief constable over £100,000.00 while on suspension before he was sacked.
I applaud your enthusiasm, even though your grip on reality may be somewhat tenuous......

Northants have been using those for the last couple of years...

I got my variation back yesterday (3 working day, thank you Sussex!) and it was still A4. I assume they are using up A4 paper and will go to A5 when its all gone. Not looking forward to that. Lets just have an RFID photo card that links to an electronic database!

I've put that forward through various channels - ignored.

It would be much easier for the police - submit a variation on line, they change the data base and email you back with a .pdf of approved holdings. Couple of issue would be with dealers - how could they read the card without investment? Or how would a private face to face sale work?
