Shooting is a perishable skill, and given their role and responsibilities, it's not an unreasonable ask for them to be continually kept in practice and up to the job. Or they can step down if they're not so inclined.the running man wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 5:47 am Bit picky really, from what I've just read, yes integrity is out the window, but if your traind your trained......unless they haven't been schooled in some new force procedure etc, someone's got a cob on over this,is there any need for all this wasted time and expenditure, surely the boss could just have them all in and bollock em.

Yup!! I remember how the police used to come way down the rankings at some of the pistol shoots (such as last) So much so that in the end the police actually stopped their men participating in civilian competitions.Blackstuff wrote: ↑Thu Jun 20, 2024 7:31 am "Only the police and military should have firearms"
"Civilians could never be as good as the police so should never be allowed guns for self-defence"
And other such tripe.![]()
After that they were able to inform the media that their officers were far better than all of those "Untrained" civilians.
Jeeze I have seen where some taser trained officers couldn't use the taser properly.

Hello
Have they lowered the entrance requirements for police with firearms as it certainly looks that way, I always thought that trust and honesty were a
pre requisite.

You might want to check this out......I just completed the questionnaire answering negatively to all the questions, and the response seems to indicate that a successful application depends very much on the force that you're applying to join.
You do need two level 3 passes, defined as two A levels or equivalent. It's interesting to try it for yourself to see if you qualify.

Hello
After what happened at the training officer debacle, it obviously looks like there could be some disingenuous responses on the application forms ?

I still think all that could have been handled better.Pippin89 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 6:19 amIf a HOA club was falsifying its probationer training records or members shooting logs etc., would you expect the committee to receive a bollocking? Or for them to be stripped of their Home Office approval? If we have to be held to that standard, so should they.the running man wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2024 5:47 am Bit picky really, from what I've just read, yes integrity is out the window, but if your traind your trained......unless they haven't been schooled in some new force procedure etc, someone's got a cob on over this,is there any need for all this wasted time and expenditure, surely the boss could just have them all in and bollock em.
I agree yes we have to keep records properly so should they.
That hoa club (I suspect) probably had a ton of infighting and people conflict issues going on,I suspect it was a squeeler from that club that reported them in the first place, most clubs have them, sad lonely bitter outcast individuals with not a lot to do...
Sad really.

The NCA, (Never Catch Anyone) are not police. Some, and only some, are warranted with the powers of a constable when on duty. They do not hold the office of constable as police officers do.
The NCA are civil servants. Yep, there are police officers who take employment with the NCA once they retire and such, but an NCA officer could not “transfer” to a Home Office force or even a non-Home Office for such as BTP.
Pedantic, aye possibly. But with the rapists, murderers and thugs that have recently been caught who were also police officers, let’s not drag the lads and lasses in blue who still perform decent and honest service, down further by associating them with the NCA!

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
