At a recent GTA meeting they confirmed that the home office had discussed both licence fees and moderators off ticket(allegadly police want this as well )
Fees were expected to see a 100% rise and moderators off ticket by the Autumn
However this has now all been put on hold ..

Perhaps our shooting organizations should consider wooing Starmer over to our side with donations and sundry freebies. Apparently, when it comes to accepting not 'bungs' but complimentary tributes, he's very open, more open than most politicians. He seems relatively inexpensive to please, too.

My MP (safe seat tory, still in) spent a morning "having a go" with a local club at an MOD range not far from me a few years ago......enjoyed it, apparently...

Out of interest , whats the legal situation , you invite an MP to your range , he was a walk around , chats to people , then you offer him the chance to have a few shots with a rifle .

Can we still do that ?

Yes certainly if the visit to the club took place as part of a guest day, although probably not on a MOD range these days.
Home Office Approved clubs have 12 allotted guest days per year where guests known to members who do not hold a FAC and are not prohibited persons can come and shoot under supervision. These can be useful for getting local politicians onside and showing that shooting is a safe, fun and social activity that doesn't need banning into the ground.

Problem with that is how many of us "know" our MP's ?

And I wouldnt like to see a place on a guest day being used for an MP .
