Labour will intervene earlier to stop young people being drawn into crime, creating a new Young Futures programme with a network of hubs reaching every community. These hubs will have youth workers, mental health support workers, and careers advisers on hand to support young people’s mental health and avoid them being drawn into crime.

We will not wait for those at risk to come forward. Local prevention partnerships will identify young people who could be drawn into violence and intervene. And to offer young people a pathway out of violence, we will place youth workers and mentors in A&E units and Pupil Referral Units, funded by full recovery of the cost of firearm licensing.

Has this not come up before,shooters and some organisations said that's fine but we will require a regulated proper and prompt service if we have to pay for it,and then it went nowhere....also linking legal firearms owners to crime seems like a basis for a legal challenge.

Fear not that nationally "well respected" body the NRA will be on the case saving the day yet again for shooters and gun owners, not!

As usual they will lie down, roll over and enjoy the shafting on our behalf.

I am more than happy to pay a bit more for having a decent service, but putting our fees up as a stealth tax to pay for years of under funding for Police and youth services extracts the urine....

Although I can't see the 'funded by Firearms Licencing' part I fully believe it.

It will be heartbreaking to see my sport and past time destroyed under Labour, but I will at least be able to take satisfaction in the epic level of 'I told you so' when the red-rosette loving shooters eat their words about how bad Tories have been to the firearms community.

Lets see if they also want to "fully recover" the cost of policing football matches or pride events or music festivals..... Considering there is significant drug use and/or violence at all of those, its rather easier to link those to youth crime than legal gun ownership!

So, it seems then that the intention is to not only cover the cost of operating the firearms certification system, but to produce a surplus to fund other activities. I noticed an item on the TV the other day when a reporter interviewed three youths on the street, all masked up, openly selling drugs and one of them producing a large knife from under his coat. I wanted to know why the police were not interviewing these youths instead of a reporter.

What Lab don't seem to realise is full cost recovery doesn't create additional monies!

In addition, not delivering a reasonable service whilst charging more isn't a good basis of service provision or contract. Failure to deliver renewals, variations issuance in reasonable timeframes will result in many complaints!

Whilst Lab are imho certain to win, the Tories haven't exactly been of any benefit to our sport either! Under their watch they increased club's fees to £372 renewal & £444 application, introduced a reactive medical & application processes that adds to the cost & burden, presided over a series of woeful consultations that have threatened & damaged many aspects of our game from lead bans to whistleblowing on fellow shooters by club officials! Introduced this system of statutory guidance that seems to allow the police to devise any rules they want & then call it law?

I also think the wellbeing of the nation, its society, defence, social cohesion & economy are far greater cause for concern than the impact of one political colour on shooting ...... & it's absolutely clear that the current brand of Tory, & especially the Truss right-wing refugees now in Reform can't be trusted with that! 14 years of woeful maladministration, cronyism, fraud, lying, policies & favours to suite their financial backers, lobbyists & corporate businesses over & above the citizenry of the nation demonstrate that clearly!

So, people should vote as their conscious suggests vs as an NGO of a sport thinks on what will be seen by society in the greater scheme of UK life, a pretty minor issue! & I personally dont belive anything in any manifesto, history tells us the gap between promise & delivery is gargantuan! So the chances of this becoming real are theoretical at best.

I will vote tactically; my constituency has been split into a tory safe southern seat (now marginal with Reforms involvement) & a safe Lab seat north & my MP Bim will be out of a job come July. Hés been bloody useless to shooting too, so no loss there!

Having come from Uni & Uni shooting, worked in aerospace, defence, regulatory industries, seen 3 kids thru schooling & to Uni & work. I can see the utterly disastrous effect of Tory rule on that & them. They won't get my vote, but I won't be voting on a narrow issue either, even if that's shooting, but on the national agendas & the longer-term future of the country.

Other than that - I also hope to see the Scottish Nazi Party decimated! & my friends in Scotland released from their parochial form of socialism & their divisive nationalist jingoism, that overflows the sectarian football terraces up there into daily life!

Exactly, and lets also not forget full recovery of costs for licensed premises too. Not forgetting that there are 7 relevant authorities that have to be consulted under The Licensing Act 2003 and the objectives of the act are -
The prevention of crime and disorder
Public safety
The prevention of public nuisance
The protection of children from harm.
