Hi
So it is looking like I'll be leaving the sunny London town and moving north to Falkirk. I'll need to find new clubs and places to play.
So far I've found:
The National Shooting Centre - seems to be just clays?
Recoil Scotland - I can get my practical fix.
Cloybank - air rifle and pistol.
Does anyone know of any smallbore club in the area? And what about a fullbore range? (I want to keep up target shooting!)
I suspect Bisley may be the place I miss most when we move.
Best
Dan

Hi Dan. There is fife and Kinross rifle club.they shoot up to 600 yards I think. Also a bit further up past Perth is West Atholl rifle club.they shoot up to 1200 yards. I think there is a club around Edinburgh too.

Re: Ranges / Clubs in Falkirk Area?
Hi Dan
I moved to Falkirk from London 40 years ago! I wasn't a shooter then though.
There are plenty of clubs in a 30 mile radius of Falkirk town, but none in the town anymore. Falkirk is a region too and it will depend where you are living I suppose. The best indoor range is Clyde Valley Pistol Club ( my club of choice now) which is 30 miles from Falkirk. We shoot most disciplines there. The nearest rifle range is Blair Adam which about a dozen clubs hire and use. Nearer than Blair Atholl but only out to 500yards.
There are a few smallbore clubs but I don't know much about them. Once up here we are a friendly lot and you will find you can get all the info you will need. You can contact me directly if you like if you have any questions.

Re: Ranges / Clubs in Falkirk Area?
Hello Dan, this is just a follow up to the previous reply. In terms of smallbore ranges, Alloa & District Rifle Club are a good club and have a range in Kincardine, which is just a few miles from Falkirk. There are others, too, which you could locate via Google.
As regards fullbore ranges, you probably have three main options.
The first is to contact one of the three clubs that use Blairadam Range near Kelty in Perth & Kinross (about 35 minutes' drive from Falkirk). The range goes back to 500 yards. The club to join will depend on what type of shooting you want to do. Fife & Kinross Fullbore Rifle Club focuses on competitive Target Rifle and F Class shooting (both F-TR and F Open). The Fife Centrefire Rifle Club and the Civil Service Shooting Club cater for various forms of fullbore rifle shooting.
The second is to contact West Atholl Rifle Club, which runs Jubilee Range near Blair Atholl (about 1.5 hours' drive from Falkirk). West Atholl Rifle Club's activities are similar to those of Fife & Kinross FBRC. The range goes back to 1233 yards but that's only used for Match Rifle and some F Class events, with shooting usually taking place from 400 to 1,000 yards (987 yards to be precise).
The third is to contact one of the Clubs that use the MoD's range at Castlelaw, south of Edinburgh, such as the East of Scotland Rifle Club, Vintage Arms Scotland or West Edinburgh Shooting Club. The Castlelaw range goes back to 600 yards and it is necessary, as would be expected, to fit in with MoD restrictions on range availability etc.
It should be possible to contact any of the Clubs directly via a Google search or through Scottish Target Shooting or indeed the NRA.

Thank you all for the pointers - I'll be checking them out.
Hope to see you all on the range sometime!

For full bore you can use Gardners at Eskdalemuir - steel plates out from 200 yards to 1000 yards and then out further to a mile!
Remember, we're all here because we're not all there!
