Re: Interesting ...watercannon opinions ?
I listened with interest to an article on R4 about this last night, talk of raising the water temperature so people not get cold and running the cannons at low pressures. Then they interviewed someone from the Belgian police. Apparently they had been called out 8 times this year and he said people very quickly learn to steer clear of the water cannons and disperse. He also said water was at the ambient temperature :) Bring them out I say!
I say bring them out, pity they were not around when that little idiot Gilmour was swinging off the Union flag on the Cenotaph.

Perhaps his father should have paid for some decent schooling so his son had a better understanding of the monument, it's meaning and our national flag. We have no chance if that is the standard of today's university entrants.Charlie Gilmour, 21, issued a grovelling apology after he faced a barrage of criticism for insulting the nation's war dead. In a statement, he said he was “mortified” by his “moment of idiocy”, saying he did not realise the flag was on the Cenotaph at the time.

Low pressure warm water cannons!? Where the fun in that!? If they're deployed half the nation will turn out just for a free wash!

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

I quite like the American idea of firing bean bags, you can pick them up and take them home for the kids/dog etc.

What about shotguns - loaded with SALT. It stings like hell and irritates but does no lasting harm.

Why did kamikaze pilots wear helmets?
God loves stupid people, that is why he made so many of them.

Keep the Water Cannon but add "Skunk"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle ... 646894.stm
"Skunk" is a malodorant, non-lethal weapon used for crowd control by the Israeli Defense Forces. Deriving its name from the animal of the same name, "Skunk" is dispersed as a form of mist, fired from a water cannon, which leaves a terrible odor of rot or sewage on whatever it touches, and does not wash off easily. First attempts at developing a scent-based form of crowd control began in Israel in 2004; Skunk was first used for crowd control in September 2008.

MMMMMmmmmmmm, after a bit of noggin thinking, what about adding an indelible ink substance to the water cannon. The culprits of any crime ought to be easy to identify then, blue , like one of the Smurfs.
