I am looking for a Mosin M38 high or low wall receiver.
Is there anyone who knows of one?
Thank you

Your M38 is doing what it was designed to do as they were intended for use by artillery crews, truck drivers and cooks etc rather than front line infantry troops.Although the M44 carbine is the same length as the M38 the 44 was intended for front line troops and came about as a result of experiences in place like Stalingrad where a full length M91/30 proved to be long and unwieldy in house-to-house and often room-to-room fighting.Neither the M38 or M44 were conceived with long range accuracy in mind and were intended to hit a target the size of a mans torso out to around 300m max.

Thanks for your reply. The short carbine will never be a long range shooter however I am hitting most of the time at 100m a 30cm round steel with my M44.

Re: Mosin Nagant M38
If hitting Bulls is the only metric to consider then i would need to sell off half my collection!!
However i did have a M38 for a few years which i shot better with than its enfield contemporaries. though this of course could be a case of me having a great example M38 and lemon of an enfield.
From a practicality point of view however the m38 barrel is a fair bit shorter than on a no.4 so i wouldn't typically expect the same performance out of it.
Personally i would always opt for the shorter/lighter version of a given milsurp as that is my area of interest but to each their own.
