BSA Long Lee Speed
This is not a military issue rifle, but one sold on the civilian market. I bought this from the same chap I bought my Long Branch No.4 from. He bought it from a dealer and the story he got from the dealer was that the rifle had been in the same family from new and had been passed down over the years until no-one wanted or could take it on, so was sold to the dealer. How true, who knows? It is all matching and has not been messed with. It is complete with the volley sights. The bore is not too bad and I have shot it. It is a nice rifle.

Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
Another gem you have some very nice kit.
Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
What do you think the value of one of these is vs a military issued one?
Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
What a superb looking rifle! I was asked to re-barrel one of these earlier today, complete with repeating the original stamps which I am anguishing over right now. I much prefer rifles to be left as they are.
Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
Sfwh, I suppose the military issue rifles are more sought after so may be more expensive, compared to an identical commercial rifle. As to
what the difference is, I suppose it depends on what the buyer wants to pay. I was happy to get this rifle, even though it is not ex military issue.

Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
Peter, I have a very similar one except made by Westley Richards. I will probably be selling soon so I was just wondering if you knew if there was much demand for them.
Re: BSA Long Lee Speed
Sfwh, yes there is always reasonable interest in them.
