DAMKO Modern Martini Rifle

I have read about these before however today seems like a good day to share the details...

DAMKO in the USA appear to have released a nigh on exact copy of the Martini actioned rifle built by MH, BSA et al. These ones are just under $2000.00 and come chambered in centre fire cartridges. They do have the addition of a cross trigger safety and what is probably best described as an express (Cheap) peep sight. There is a .303 variant and being single shot they are going to be fun to shoot and if they are built well, they should be accurate.

No doubt Raytrade or similar will pick up on these at some point so expect to see some in the UK eventually.

This reminds me, there was/is a sort of accepted modification to the English .22 target rifles to chamber them in .22 Hornet which has always appealed to me for all the wrong reasons. They would make a lovely rabbit rifle in such a configuration.

It looks too slim to be an International to me, more like a Model 9 or 12 maybe.

Surely this is a large frame martini action?

Fred, it seems to take design nods from large and small frame actions and the international, I can see it has a cocking indicator as well which was dropped 90 ish years ago. If it is a large frame it is has good proportions. It could be that is is a 'Medium' frame as the largest cartridge it is listed in is the .303

The cocking indicator wasn't exactly dropped---it vanished with the adoption of the Francotte action for small frame types. This is not a Francotte action, or one of the other types---Westley Richards etc, which use a removeable trigger plate. The Francotte action has the cocking indicator at the side / top of the block. This reminds me that I have been looking for one for years as the indicator is missing from my Greener. They were often removed as it was thought that this improved the trigger feel. The Braendlin armoury small frame rook rifles which are quite common are a scaled down version of the true Martini action and still have the cocking indicator.
