Having settled on using 200 grain Sierra Matchkings a while ago as my load for my .308 rifle that I am using in the GB F-class league, I purchased a box of 500 and have just been dipping my hand the box.
In preperation of loading 100 rounds for next weekends foray up to Diggle and trying to eliminate as many variables to performance as possible :roll: I decided that I'd weigh each remaining one and sort them into different containers
Now in real terms I'm not sure how much real difference it would make but I guess over a 1000 yards every little bit helps!
Now I just need to sort the "nut behind the butt" and I'm golden :lol:

That's the second set of results I've seen on the forum for weighing SMKs - the other was very consistent too. I fully understand why you F Class guys batch even SMKs, but I'm going to be using them for TR and CR - so I think I'll just 'trust' them - well worth the extra cost, for competitions I reckon
If you remember or care to look, you will see that I have also carried out this somewhat boring and very time consuming task with 190gn SMK's.
Although initially alarmed with the spread I was unable to find any ballistic program that would give any change to POI.
As a result I decided that weighing bullets was something that I would not do again.
I believe that finding the capacity of your cases would be more important and time better spent, some would argue that at our level of game spending more time reading the wind would be of more use. Although I will accept that when you can not get to the range it is tempting to dabble when you get the spare hour,
