Re: Hello everyone!! From Hertfordshire
I would like to know what’s the licence requirements to buy guns that’s on sale here if I would need a licence and how I would go about getting one. As I’ve said I’ve only been shooting abroad and I’m pretty new to this. I’ve bought a few obsolete firearms but would love to be able to shoot and go hunting. I’m quite interested in shotguns and revolvers. Sorry if I sound silly can’t know if I don’t ask so some insight would be very helpful. Thanksbradaz11 wrote:what do you want to know? what type of gun do you want to shoot and at what?hasbo09 wrote: I’ve been to a lot of shooting ranges abroad and would love to get in to it here.

ok. I can't really answer for hunting. only target shooting.
If you want a shotgun, just apply for a licence, If you have a good history - IE never been arrested etc, then you should have it granted, then you need a cabinet and you can go buy shotguns as long as they are sec2 shotguns, IE long barrels and no more that 3 cartridges in the gun.
firearm licences are different, you need to prove reason. one reason is being a member of a club, so you go to a local club, apply to join, become a probationary member, after 6 months or so, they make you a full member, then you can apply for a firearms licence and your good reason would be for whatever you can use at that club, shooting targets etc. firearms licences also arent just an open thing to buy guns, you have to apply for 'slots' basically you contact your local police licensing, and ask them for permission to buy a type of gun - ie bolt action rifle and a caliber ie .22. and tell them what it will be used for ie targets, and where, ie your club. they then assess whether what you are asking for is reasonable or not, then give you permission to buy that gun.

Hello and welcome
Whereabouts in Herts are you?
I would suggest if you want to buy firearms for target use you'll need to join a club first and get your probationary period out of the way. Then you can apply for your license. I might be able to help if you're on my side of the county.
