Ahh the 2.0 l Brazllian block that actually never existed, not even in Brazil - how they wangled that god only knows.
My Avenger (well one of them) was a 1500GT that had the supension etc modded but little else; here it is at Knockhill - converted from cine film so no sound!

We knocked spots off a TR7 V8 that day! Tyron remould Goodyear M+S Ultragrip(?) pattern - BRILLIANT bit of rubber! Awesome traction in snow!
I worked in a Chrysler dealers in the early 70's - the MD had a Hunter GLS that he used to pedal up the road at great speed - he was well hacked off when the Dolly Sprint came into the garage one day!
Here's a couple of photos:
The water splash is from 1971 - out practicing at the back end of Ayrshire. This was my my first Avenger rally car (1500 GL) Did a to of marshalling with this - good experience driving stages before actually competing!
The second image is on the Solway Stages - Great Orton Airfield - my first ever stage rally.
The last one is me after retiring on Stage 1 of a Selective event (Fairlie Roads Rally) in 1979 with "a stone in the radiator"... well that's what I told the missues.
She was seriousy annoyed (p'd off actually, she went mental) when she saw the damage! The "stone" was actually a LARGE and very solid dry stane dyke, which I slid into sideways at 70 mph. Someone in the passenger seat called long fast right.....................................(LONG PAUSE).......................Maybe??? !!
And then it got expensive.!!!!!!!!! If the bend hadn't been covered in liquid farmyard we mght have made it! I even borrowed Dunlop SPR 3's from my mates Escort for that event!
I'd spend almost a YEAR building that car: all welded up and stripped out - a 1500GT with a 1250 CR box and rear Axle!
