Bullet weight
My Savage .223 has a 1 in 9 twist...it shoots 55gn, 69gn and 75 gn... all types...very well....it does not shoot the 62gn ppu bullet at all well...any ideas...could it be insufficient velocity...just a very poor bullet?

Re: Bullet weight
I have not been impressed with PPU bullets. The brass I think is very good but the billets are not.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Bullet weight
That said I've found PPU bullets to be very accurate in my rifles, maybe results vary depending on calibre.Sim G wrote:I have not been impressed with PPU bullets. The brass I think is very good but the billets are not.

Re: Bullet weight
Me too , my ar15 will usually group 1" with 69 gr 62 gr but if I load ppu bullets 3" is the norm , strange as when I shoot factory ppu match it goes back to 1" .Alpha1 wrote:I use them for for cheap plinking loads but thats about all.

Re: Bullet weight
Is this the old cheap 62FMJ or the new 62HPM?
Their match bullets are a lot better then the FMJ stuff, that's just only good for plinking.

Re: Bullet weight
Different calibre I know but my SVD will shoot lovely little groups with 150gr .311" PPU SPBT and 182gr .311" PPU Match FMJBT bullets but doesn't like 174gr bullets for whatever reason.
I've found the two PPU bullets mentioned will outshoot both Sierra and Hornady bullets in my experience.
