Scoped MG34 Machine Gun
Found this interesting picture of a MG34 fitted with what appears to be a Russian PEM scope fitted.
Must have been completed by an enterprising Waffenmiester on the Eastern front.
Anybody got any other information regarding this, or any other Allied/Axis conversions ?
Only others I have seen are a couple of K98s fitted with same scope that were roughly welded on using makeshift brackets.

Re: Scoped MG34 Machine Gun
Very interesting.
If it worked OK, one can only imagine the effectiveness of such a mod on a MG34!
I have seen a photo posted on a forum of a K98 with a PEM scope and PEM mount that was supposedly original German field modified.
I've seen it mentioned also that the PEM will fit a K98 LSR mount but not seen any photo evidence?

I don't know about roughly welded on scopes but on the Gunboards Mosin forums I have seen examples of PE/PEM scopes with exquisitely silver soldered claw mounts fitted to allow their use on K98's as well as PU mounts that have been fitted to Mauser receivers using drilled and tapped holes as they were originally fitted to Mosin receivers.

Re: Scoped MG34 Machine Gun
WOW 2,500 yds. shot on a moving target with a 50cal machine gun gives a new meaning too "On yer bike" never heard of that before....
wonder if it was a single shot or a burst ?
I also found another picture of a K98 fitted with Russian PU kit, anyone found a picture showing the mounted side. I am interested to see how it was attached and how the wood was cut out

I see your scope .50BMG and raise you a 14.7x114 PTR-S anti-tank rifle with a PU scope!

Re: Scoped MG34 Machine Gun
I am now looking for that elusive picture of a British 25 pounder fitted with a PEM scope.
