Gas checked .22LR
Out in the shed tonight I found a .22LR bullet I had pulled for some reason and popped on a shelf, a closer look and I remembered it had a gas check cap on it, is this usual or something from the times gone by?

Re: Gas checked .22LR
Seems unlikely it was a 22 LR as they are a heeled boolit, I suspect you could gas check the heel but it would be unlikely to fit the case. A gas check on a .22" LR would be futile as it would be under groove if not bore size.
Are you sure it wasn't a copper wash?

The moment I posted it had me thinking and your post was so obvious!
It looks like it was a copper washed bullet that has been in someone’s pocket for a long while, pulling it left a nice copper base and to my eyes without the aid of my reading glasses....
