For the money, I don't think you can beat one of Brian's finest. Plenty mag too!
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!

We have fox holes at our local range - my old man was having trouble getting in and out of them, so takes the front section of and old ali step-ladder to make it easier... there's always a way... :good:

Thanks for the advice folks......a friend has recommended a Weaver T30...upper end of the budget market at about £400 but said to be popular in the US for benchrest...so would it suit on say a Swing at 1,000 yards?

Said friend has just 'phoned me to say it is a Weaver T36 that he was talking about and is fixed power so probably not suitable.....

Targetman,

The Weaver T36 will be fine for your style of shooting out to 1000 yds plus. I use the Leupold version for F/TR and 1000 yd benchrest. They only weigh a pound so ideal if you are building a rifle to a weight limit.

I've had the Leupold on a 7mmWSM since 2006 without problem.

Only disadvantage - in competition, you can't turn down the power to keep an eye on everyone else's targets!

Get a cheapo work bench from Wickes...they should be under £20 and build one of these...

Another approach is simply to get the correct corrective lens in the rear sight. If you are having difficulty seeing the target, a front dioper will make it worse, albeit bigger and worse. You might want a mild negative power lens in the rear.

Do you wear glasses for distance vision? If so, can you tell me what your lens correction is?
