Some of the young people in this country could learn a lot from the Gurkha mentality towards life.

They were the most humble and loyal soldiers I had the pleasure to serve with. Spent a lot of time in the company of Gurkhas whilst Shooting in the Army. (Bloody good shots too might I add) a close Gurkha pal of mine ended up being in the unit that was Prince Harry's protection in Afghan. I also received a Kurkri from the the Gurkhas which hangs proudly on my wall. Shame our Government decided to take a massive dump on them for the loyalty and Sacrifice they have and continue to make for Queen and country.

You have to admit it does not get much better does it?

Another Gurkha unit from 1st Battalion was tasked with hunting down a certain Taliban warlord. The orders were to positively identify their target. They found him, surrounded by his pals, and in a ferocious firefight, he was killed. Still under heavy fire, they could not carry the body away. One Gurkha drew his kukri knife and removed the warlord’s head. They fought their way back out. He was positively ID’ed.

The diplomatic community went nuts. The Gurkhas simply couldn’t comprehend the problem. Absent orders to the contrary, they did what they had done in countless past conflicts, often times commanded to bring back proof of important kills. Citing “international embarrassment,” the young Gurkha was sent back to the barracks in Kent.

Back in the day before all the PC lefty hand wringing destroyed our identity and community strength, this country was populated by people like this, what were they called again . . . . oh yeah MEN! :evil:

Well said blackstuff...All those who demand a return to national service have it all wrong, those they wish to send there are not fit to breathe the same air as REAL men.
