Individual MP's will not pay attention to submissions from an organisation unless they are sitting on a committee or such like, MP's will only really take an interest if information is bought to their attention by their constituents. My MP will does not look favourably on round robin / pre prepared representations , rather expecting anyone contacting him to take the time to put together their own argument. In the current day this is understandable or else they'd do nothing else except answer emails.

I think the main point here is that Sir Geoffrey needs more lobbying as he is going to be looked upon as one of the 'experts' by other MPs. He did a lot of the talking yesterday but he needs to be corrected on his views of LR/MARS actions.

Someone here must live in the Cotswolds?

They have to be your MP for him to take note of you so someone in the Cotswold District catchment is a must. I emailed David Drew - MP for Stroud & District and he is sympathetic. I offered him round for a LR teach in but he hasn't accepted yet.

As I’ve written before, MP’s are not obliged to answer emails, they only tend to do so if its a matter they want to deal with. However a written letter received by post or delivered by hand by parliamentary convention should receive a response.
I expect they think that if their constituents feel strongly enough about a matter they’ll go to the trouble of putting pen to paper or pressing print , licking an envelope and putting it in the post. It does’nt take long and my MP has responded however briefly to every letter i’ve sent.
If you are not happy with their response you just need to ring his/ her office and ask to meet them at their next constituency surgery.
Quite a simple system.

Finally had a reply from my MP.

'Thank you for writing to me regarding the Offensive Weapons Bill, & the recent consultation, in which a vast majority of corespondents were opposed to the prohibition of certain firearms.

I have made representations on your behalf to the Rt Hon Nick Hurd MP, in order to ask him to look into the points you have raised.

I will be in touch upon receipt of a response.'

So just the like the last time it's a non commital reply & I expect the same blah, blah, reponse from Hurd.

I got a response back from my MP on tuesday, basically said, let's wait for the results of the consultation to be published. seems he didn't read the part where the 2nd reading was happening the next day.

I've had the same from both (several times), but it's not going to stop me sending more.
