K22 Slide

24" and less, a place to discuss all things handgun related, section 7.3. Long barrelled revolvers, long barrelled pistols and section 5. Overseas contributions are more than welcome.

K22 Slide

#1 Post by Grifff »

Hi, recently bought a k22 x-trim. Only been to the range a couple of times but noticed the slide doesn't hold back sometimes when empty and when it does it only needs the slightest tap to release.

Now I haven't stripped and cleaned it yet but wondering if this is typical or if something wears?

Cheers Grifff

Are you using the standard magazine and standard or high velocity ammo?

My extended 19 round mags don't trip the last round hold open.

Just the standard 10td mag and eley sport. I've been getting a few not go off too but they seem to have a good strike so maybe that the ammo.

I've found my K22 pistols are quite sensitive to build-up of lubricant on the faces of the bolt and of the barrel. After 200 rounds, I often get light strikes where the round fails to fire. A quick wipe of those areas, and the pistol is good to go again. RWS Target Rifle exclusively, which is not very waxy. For my usage of these guns, cleaning them every 100-150 rounds is fine, but it is a bit of a flaw.

I know the issue. I had a modified slide release from Caledonian which fixed it. Call them.

Ammo wise, mine will etc minimag all day long but things like rws or eley or sk will make it light strike after a while, luckily it’s double action so not a stage stopper!

As above, its a known issue, numerous were made with a poorly formed notch on the slide for the stop to engage with. CCA will mod it for free if you send it to them
