Re: .50cal banned from MOD FF ranges???

#711 Post by Alpha1 »

I received the same message from the NRA(National Rifle Association) to day.
So it looks like the MOD(Ministry of Defense) have banned .50 caliber.

“Penetrating body armour” in the explanatory/supporting document for the consultation refers to military body armour. The impact assessment of the same supporting documents states that “.50 caliber rifles in criminal or terrorist hands presents a unique problem that the police would be unable to control”. It does not mention police body armour... Where is that bit stated?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Its not, that's been an extrapolation as far as I've been able to see. Personally I took it to mean the length of range the rifles are capable of reaching out to, but there you go. But whether its defeating body armour or length of range, its bulls**t either way.

Unsurprising, Landmarc/MOD seem to do all in their power to put civvies off from using their ranges ****

Guilty until proven innocent? Banning all shooting until the end of the consultation and decision seems a bit harsh and yet again confirms Landmarc have no desire to see civvy shooters on MoD ranges as pointed out by Mark :(

MOD has done the HO's banning for them, no ranges, not able to shoot, no reason to possess!

One might ponder the question about who the MOD reports to?

My thoughts exactly, seems they have realised the have screwed up consultation by moving the goalposts, so its now open to challenge as being invalid. So instruct MOD to remove ranges for civvy usage, so there is nowhere to shoot, so no reason to possess. However I believe there are a couple of private ranges rated to .50 cal.
