Before sending off letters to MPs which include reference to the FCSA statement, wouldn't it be a good idea to run it past them first, especially if they intended it to be restricted to their membership?BooBoo wrote: The FCSA have asked that their release is for members only..

Re: New laws coming?
What a fecking mess, I am sure that the FCSA club are doing their best and no doubt they are best placed to give specialist knowledge of the calibre.
However it is s sad state of affairs when a club has to lead on "national" issues. This proposal covers more than just high MV/ME firearms, lever release and the like also come under the purview, who is best placed to represent these owners and future owners?
So we have a club leading on part of a national issue, it is restricting its communication, views and advice to its members and not seeking support from the wider gun owning constituency. The "national" bodies seem to be moribund as far as communication is concerned and it seems that we are shafted before we start as the FCSA seem to be discussing the nature of the restriction rather than the need, justification, rationale, reason for any restrictions.
It seems that the police are not able to respond to a threat from such legally held firearms being used illegally but are competent enough to respond to a threat from such illegally held firearms being used illegally.
Gun ownership and shooting in the UK is really doomed, here is a real and present threat to legal gun ownership in the UK and an organised and mobilised response is beyond us, what a farce we are.

I hate to say it but I agree. and that last sentence is very poignant.dromia wrote:What a fecking mess, I am sure that the FCSA club are doing their best and no doubt they are best placed to give specialist knowledge of the calibre.

If this gets through, it really is a matter of time until all guns are gone for "safety" sake. No Evidence, Minimal Resistance, No Problem. Do what they like.

Re: New laws coming?
So what do we do?
Id say the best way is for 100, 000 shooters to appraoch number 10 and each of us knock on the door for an explanation.
How can this be organised?
The press would have a field day and that is what matters....getting airplay/mediaplay and p*** the system off so it cant be done quietly.

Re: New laws coming?
Can't you get Chris from the FCSA on here to give us a heads up and tell us how we are best placed to help him? Even if a club is leading the fight back, they are better placed than we are as they are talking directly to the Home Office.

Re: New laws coming?
For that we need a sufficiently motivated and resourced organisation working nationally with all certificate holders.Gazza wrote:So what do we do?

We managed that with the Sportsman's Association during the pistol ban which mobilised 10's of thousands of us, little good it did us then but at least we have the knowledge that we tried and fought, to help sustain us afterwards.
Now our "leaders" just roll over and take the shaftings for us, to them fight is a dirty word. At the end of the day they are professional bureaucrats and administrators for salaries and not impassioned and threatened gun owners, if they were their edifices would be different.

Re: New laws coming?
If every shooting club could send a rep and approach downing street as a group then that would be a start especially if they had a sinature from each member with them
As I said a media presence is the key now.
If the shooting bodies which take our money cant or won't do anything, eg fight for us then let it be known they will be out of a job as they will be deemed impotent and people will not pay in to these bodies any longer.

Re: New laws coming?
I think the majority of certificate holders have no illusions about the lack of our "national" bodies efficacy in championing gun ownership, they pay them their money for other reasons, mainly access to Bisley, insurance and the occasional bit of advice.
Even after the blatant shafting the "national" bodies gave the pistol owners nothing changed with them.
