True we will see for now Im concentrating on trail boss and bullseye. But I think my eye sight is the weakest link.

TARGETS.

Target 001 has three groups on it.
The top group is a lyman .357 158 grain semi wad cutter cast bullet with 3.6 grains of bullseye.
The group to the right is very poor thats a bought 157 grain round nose flat point with 3.6 grains of bullseye.
The group to the left is a Lee 158 grain it actually measured .360 tumble lubed bullet with 3.6 grains of bullseye.

I was not happy with any of these groups so I started to concentrate on trigger pull and sight picture. Sight picture is a problem at the moment. But more about that later.

This group was shot using the Lyman cast bullet with 3.1 grains of trail boss.

Target 003
The group to the left was bought bullets with trail boss.
The group in the center and the flyer to the right ( my eyes were giving up by this time) was shot using the Lee tumble lubed bullet with 3.1 grains of trail boss. still a lot of work to do and a trip to the opticians I think before any improvement is likely.

All the targets were shot at 30 yards sitting at a bench with my elbows resting on the table using a Winchester trapper under lever with iron sights.
Not very good years ago I was able to put them all in the ten ring standing. Old age is the pits.

I found the cure for my lee mold cast bullets. The mold is quite old and worn the base of the cast bullets had raggy bits. I dont know how else to describe it. They don't seat in the case very well not all of them but enough for it to be a problem. I bought a cast bullet base champher tool from http://www.pukkabundhooks.com. Problem sorted great bit of kit and great service I recommend them for all you cast bullet enthusiasts.

I have given up on trail boss for the moment. Not much success with it.
Concentrated on bullseye and went back to the begining.
I have found in my rifle with any type of 158grain cast bullet of the right size and bullet alloy 3grains of bullseye works. Still a work in progress.

I am having good results accuracy wise with Viht 310, it is a lot cheaper to load with than TB and meters really well being spherical.

3 grains of bullseye with the Lee 158 grain semi wad cutter tumble lube bullet is favorite at the moment. Now that I am shooting under lever regularly again things are improving. I have a pair of shooting glasses made up by my optician for the Winchester and its made a big difference. Things are starting to come together now. My scores are steadily climbing. I now believe that most of my problems were down to the nut on the but. (The blind nut on the but) I have given up on bought hard cast bullets casting my own is the way to go. Vitavouri powders are next on the agenda. People talk highly about trail boss but I can not find any meaningful re loading data for it any were so its been shoved to the back of the cupboard and there it will stay. This cupboard is getting rather crowded.
