Not wanting to hijack safetyfirst's thread, any chance of a little steer on some "Enfield Bits"?

I've never been into milsurp. When the pistols went I hadn't owned a rifle since the semi ban in '88. Just wasn't my thing, apart from lever guns. At the time blokes were buying all sorts. I do specifically remember that a half a dozen club members bought Mas 36's with 100 free rounds for 145 quid!

Looks like I've changed a little. I'd always thought that if I was to buy a milsurp, it would be a K31, but, I've just gone and done a deal on a No5 Jungle Carbine!

I want some bits to go with it. Don't ask why, I just do. Picked up an oil bottle and pull through and some gauze. I even acquired a 1951 dated action cover! (Yeah, I don't know why either....) but, I want charger clips, a sling and a bayonet!

Where's the best place to look for these? Likewise, from what I've seen prices vary wildly! What's the honest street price of some of this stuff? And, anything "Enfield Essential" I've not thought of....?

Ebay has tons of Lee Enfield parts (slings aplenty) - charging clips are pricey but abundant. Every now and then a bloke in Oz puts up a bag in 50s / 100s at decent prices compared to the usual 5s and 10s at silly money. There's a lot of Indian canvas slips for Enfields too.

Just type in Lee Enfield and you can spend a decent evening on Ebay. No magazines though - well, not often, sometimes you'll see someone selling a Lee Enfield Trinket Box - holds ten. :)

I'd get a set of front sight blocks and an adjustment tool.

I sold my action cover and bandoleers - I have no idea why I 'needed them' I went a bit bad. Don't know why I bought the pig-sticker bayonet and frog either.

Charger clips can be picked up on fleabay as mentioned.

Original web slings can still be found on fleabay etc, but be warned there are now plenty of repro webbing slings around now that have been 'aged' to look original, so best buy when you can inspect first.

Best places are still the various militaria fairs dotted around the country. What part of the country are you?

Bayonet's can be found, but are expensive, as not many made in comparison to all the SMLE sword bayonets and pig-stickers for the No.4's. You'll be lucky to find one under a 100 quid. Again, mil fairs best place for that.

Something very worth picking up *IF* you ever seen one is the front sight adjusting tool for the No.5, again, its unique to the No.5 as it has to go over the flash hider.

Good to see you have finally seen the light, I have stripper clips you can have for our shiny stuff deal, bayonet etc, best get yourself to the military odyssey at detling this weekend or failing that Chatham dockyard 2nd Sunday of every month.

Welcome to the #5 club!

Mine came with a sling and I was given a genuine gun slip that had been used for an old .410
Bought the stripper clips (NOS) on Ebay.

The bayonet is the same as the one for the Stirling SMG, you sometimes see them for much less money than one listed as being for the Jungle Carbine.
