I've just had my Sako rebarreled to 6x45 a few months ago. Its got a 20.5" 1:8 twist barrel.

I first tried 105gr A-max's. I am getting around 2500fps with 23.5gr Xterminator, CCI450 primers, 2.36" COAL. Worked ok on the first Roe buck I shot with it. Got 4 shots into 1.3" at 200m also.

I'm now using 62gr monolithic bullets with 25.5gr Reloder 7 for about 3400fps and this works superbly for Roe and I have no doubt that it would work very well on Red & Sika etc too.

I shoot 120gr cast bullets through it too at about 980fps using 3.2gr Vihtavuori N310 and CCI450 primers.

Takbok, you say monolithic, are you reloading with Impala bullets?

Hi Ovenpaa, I'm using 62gr GS Custom copper bullets - the best!

(I also use their 110gr in my .270).

Who did the work, if you don't mind me asking?

Peter Sinclair (PJS Precision) near Forfar. He does a great job with no fuss - no long wait either. He did the Cerakote coating beautifully.

I would agree they are second to none. I know Gerard and his products and he was always a top chap to deal with although I have a feeling his daughter is mostly running things these days.

I asked about Impala as I have some here and was dismayed at their performance.

Ovenpaa, yes Gerard strikes me as someone who knows his stuff and doesn't compromise in making the best bullets for the job. Others use easy to machine brass yet GS sticks to copper that's difficult to machine yet performs better.

Sandgroper, no problem :)
