Wall hangers to FAC

Also you can ask for the rifle to be proofed to a specific load as opposed to being maxed out.
Re: Wall hangers to FAC
I dont believe it to be the case that it remains section 1 due to having a proof mark, its status should be determined by the chambering and age. How did that come about in your experience?sniper3 wrote:Just one note of advice, if you do get the rifle/s reproofed, aks the proof house to supply proof house certificate and NOT to have the rifle stamped. Two reasons firstly you lose the obsolete value and secondly it stays as fac.
I have had that experience in the past.

The proof house stamps a date code on your gun.

I understand that some future buyers might be put off by it, my comment was more to do with it 'staying as FAC'.FredB wrote:The proof house stamps a date code on your gun.

Re: Wall hangers to FAC
I have a .577 two band volunteer '53 pattern Enfield wall hanger.
Took it off the wall (out of the glass cabinet actually) and had it put on FAC a few years ago and shot it. It shot very well but after a while I had had my fun and it was taken off the FAC and now once again resides in the glass cabinet and not the steel one.
The Proof Marks don't denote its status, they only show it was proofed.

Arming the Country, one gun at a time.

Re: Wall hangers to FAC
Surely if you have an obslete calibre proofed and added to your FAC you are saying you have ammo or can make it .Does this not ruin the idea of it being an obslete calibre ?

No, it is still on the home office calibre list for Sec.58.Dellboy wrote:Surely if you have an obslete calibre proofed and added to your FAC you are saying you have ammo or can make it .Does this not ruin the idea of it being an obslete calibre ?

I think the wording is commonly or commercially available or similar.
Re: Wall hangers to FAC
Just wondering who decides what an obsolete caliber is. I'm sure I've seen ones listed as obsolete that you can by ammo for. Eg .44 Russian and .310 Cadet?
Re: Wall hangers to FAC
There is no manufacturer currently producing .310 Cadet ammunition.
Components are available, but not complete rounds
