I asked a very similar question about 5 years ago and got same great advice.

On that basis I worked up a load of the SMK Palma 2156 with a reasonably modest load of Viht N140. Frankly I was amazed that it worked well - I had zero expectations and mostly all of the rounds were in the black at 1000 yards on NRA target. This was out of a Howa 24" barrel. My mate also got good results using the NRA GGG 155 SMK rounds (same gun). It exceeded my expectations at the time and I left satisfied.

However, having read the many wise words of Laurie I've also just bought (at some expense - gulp) some of the Berger OTM tactical 175's and will be working a load up to compare against the SMK 175's - both will be using N150 which seems to work well with this weight.

My best guess using all the data I have is none of these will be supersonic at that distance though.

Good luck on your search - it really is very satisfying but equally frustrating (in a good way)........

It is Pigsy, I've ordered some of the Lapua bullets mentioned and a box of Berger OTM too... :D

I am loading up the remainder (500 or so ) Sierra 2155 155 MKs to get rid of inventory, I'm going to use it as an excuse to use every suitable powder I have and see if I can find the "ultimate" short range ( under 600 yard for the sake of argument but I will be trying them at longer ranges for experiment's sake) load for this rifle.

I'll also develop a load with the long range bullets mentioned and take a view when I run out of 2155s as to whether it's worth having two different loads or to settle on one of the long range loads I will have hopefully developed by then.

It's all part of the hobby as far I'm concerned! :)

Following a session yesterday I can vouch for the performance of the Berger 175 TOTM.

Loaded with N150 and at Mag length (2.8") all 5 loads were 1MOA ur under @ 100 yards.

Very consistent by the looks of things.
