K22 Xtrim+ LBP

So, I've just purchased, from Primer of this 'ere forum, a K22 Xtrim+.

Happy days.

Sometimes the planets align, you put in for a variation and the very thing you put the variation in for comes up, and FAC drops on the doormat at exactly the right time to go pick it up on one odd free weekend. Perfect.

So I've had a bit of a dry play with it so far, and it's slick and consistent and the sight picture is good.

My only critique is a hard/stiff mag release.
I've got big hands, and I've never struggled with a mag release before, but even with my bear hands, releasing with my firing hand is proving tricky, has anyone else experienced this, and is it easily remedied.

As with the nature of LBP's, I haven't handled this model before, are they all a bit stiff, is it just this one?

Any tips would be appreciated.

I'll post back tonight when I've had chance to fire it at the local range.

I'd be interested to see what this is actually like compared to the GSG 1911, is it worth the extra £400 or so?

Had a few things on since I went to the range on Monday night and not been on long enough to post...

In terms of the Mag Release, I ended up putting some oil in the contact points of the button which eased it a little, the gun seems fairly unused , so it might just need a bit of wearing in, if it doesn't start to give after a few hundred uses, I'll look into the spring, or possible binding.

As for the pistol, it's lovely to shoot. It's been about 2 years since I've shot a .22lr pistol (in the states) and it's nice and light, very well balanced and feels well made, almost like and old friend in the hand too.

I forgot any tools to adjust the sites when I went, but on a PL14 (20 yard) target at 25 yards I managed to get all shots within the card. at 20 yards, I managed all shots within the scoring area, the vast majority at the 5 ring, however the sites are high and lef, so I need to adjust and there would have been about 15/20 of the shots in the black...

Definitely need more practice, but it's off to a good start!

Dorset - I've not shot the GSG so can't comment on whether it's worth the extra £400, but in terms of what I've seen of the accuracy of both, then I would say yes, it's worth it. It seems that you have to upgrade a lot of components on the GSG to make them consistent, however I may have to save up and put in another variation in the future to have a look for myself. My all-time favourite pistol is the 1911, so it seems odd that I didn't go for one, but I'd read more about the accuracy of the K22...

Chalk and cheese build quality wise, nobody would argue with that. I have both and shoot both equally as much. Both fun.

They do look nice and seem to perform very well. I think if I was doing things over again (picking up my first LBP) I would go straight for the K22. My gsg is OK now but only after the extra expense and effort to get right (for me). When I picked up the K22 at the shooting show this year it felt much lighter than my gsg. I've never shot or handled 'normal' length .22 pistols before but it was a bit closer to what I imagine they must feel like.

I've checked on mine, same model, and the magazine release button needs pushing straight on, not at an angle, but the pressure is quite low. easily done with my thumb. And I don;t have large paws either.

It is lovely to shoot, the long barrel with the shroud does balance, and the butt extension rod doesn't get in the way.

I put a shield mini red dot on it, not being to cope with the iron sight for some reason.

I've got a shield mini red dot for this, too. I'm not allowed to use it for the competition I'm training to enter though.

As mentioned though, my scores are nothing special at all though at the minute, need some proper work to get my scores up with the irons.

Looks more like a shotgun pattern than a group...

Shooting 2 handed the extension rod is awesome. Single handed it gets in the way slightly, causing my shots to hit high :(
