Just thought I would issue a caution when pulling bullets from berdan primed military ammunition.
I was pulling the bullets from some pre war 7.5x54 French ammunition, using my kinetic puller to render them inert for display purposes.
I started to pull an a.p/tracer round when at the 4th whack, the charge ignited.
Luckily, the tracer element of the bullet failed to ignite but nonetheless, it was a hairy moment!
I am pretty sure that the primer was forced against the anvil by the inertia of the blows which caused it to ignite.
So if you are thinking of pulling some berdan primed rounds, I suggest you use an alternative to a kinetic hammer!

Re: Safety note
I have pulled hundreds and hundreds of rounds of 7.62x54 8mm Mauser . 7.62x39 and all manner of other milsurp ammo and never had a problem. Maybe the problem was the fact it was tracer rounds.
