Update - I have spent a few hours on the project now and have come to the conclusion 440B stainless is going to be as good a choice as any for the lifters which gives very good tensile strength and hardness and once fitted should last a lifetime. There is a downside to this, I am estimating the unit price to be around the GBP90-GBP95 mark delivered and this is dependant on the number I machine and sell, in fact I forecast a loss for the first half dozen or so units allowing for design time, set-up and fine tuning.

So, based on this near finalised price please can those who have posted in this thread update with a yes or no regarding going ahead with the project.

For information, I can source an original lifter from Europe for around EUR110 delivered however it is an original item so sintered and with the risk of breaking at some point in its life...

You going to do Marlin carriers?
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
