GGG 308 Importer or where to buy?
Morning :)
One of my clubs is looking to supply club ammunition to members and those using the club rifle.
We've been offered PPU (not the 168 match) by a local RFD at £60/100 (I'm sure Kranks may be cheaper for bulk) but would prefer something better.
So, does anyone know where to get GGG 308 at a reasonable price?, we're probably looking at around 2,500 rounds to start with.

The NRA supply huge quantities of GGG for comps and for sale - ask them for a price for bulk or if they can put you in touch with their supplier, the factory.

Very subtle April Fool's try but failed miserably I'm afraid.phaedra1106 wrote:Morning :)

We were offered 308 PSP BT 165gr PPU Rifle Ammunition at £590/1000, what's the problem?

My mistake it was the either the 145gr or 175gr FMJ not the 165gr which as you say are soft point. But def. £60/100 or £590/1000, just checked with my club secretary.

The funny bit is "I'm sure Kranks may be cheaper for bulk".phaedra1106 wrote:????Chapuis wrote:Very subtle April Fool's try but failed miserably I'm afraid.

£60 per 100 is a good price but they are unlikely to improve on that even slightly unless you are buying 10,000 or more. Also don't forget to factor in carriage. Viking Arms are always worth a try especially if you can put in an order of sufficient size so that the carriage is covered.

I see, still worth a try if we go the PPU route as we can collect from Kranks, they are only about 95 miles away.

Re: GGG 308 Importer or where to buy?
We've got a 7.62 rifle in the club that we specifically want 7.62 ammo for. Not a lot, just a couple of hundred rounds as it doesn't come out often. One of the lads went to Bisley and picked up a 100 for the club at 90 odd quid! Thing is, it's GGG .308 and not they're 7.62. The guy questioned it, but the "12 year old armourer" was adamant it's all the same stuff....
We usually shoot .308 PPU through the club Howa and both the 145 and 175 stuff have been more accurate than the probationers who use it can shoot....

In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

It depends what you are after if you want ammunition that the guys are wanting to shoot then take the cases away to reload then its going to cost you.
My club buys ammo in bulk its less than £60 a 100 to members and guests/probationers to shoot through the club .308 rifle.
The cases are recycled as scrap brass and this helps to keep the cost down.
