Re: Mini McQueens
Go to the Test Area and look for the post from Iain dated 8th July last year.
Remote start from 50m, 12v electronic control showing individual targets in a totally random order with random timings between shows, targets driven by servo, one series of 10 shows then pause for a magazine change then repeat, the unit in the picture has been in use at our club for a long time.
If anyone doubts it's existence, ask Alan aka 20Series. He's shot it.
Edit - sorry but I should have mentioned that the one shown is the prototype. the MkII has been built and it's a vast improvement.

Doesn't surprise me, I hope you managed to get some spares...

Re: Mini McQueens
I'll get a video next time we have them up and running at the club.
Just supplying control unit and servos would open up a world of support issues if the frames weren't built correctly or in a suitable configuration, a complete kit form would be possible where the user assembled it into a complete system and painted it themselves, but would require some minor redesign to make assembly idiot proof, if such a thing exists.Kungfugerbil wrote:I would also imagine you'd maybe get more take up if you offered a kit with the control electronics and servos only. If our club is anything to go by, there are an army of old boys who can source and put together frames, dowels, steel and backers and the like but wouldn't know an arduino if it bit them on the nose :)
If doing the barebones kit brought the cost down and made shipping easier, I would think that might make it appeal to a wider audience.
Re: Mini McQueens
Sorry, No video yet, have been working on some enhancements that were requested to make the system more versatile.
Updates include adding 3 new modes of operation,
1. 7 x 3 second random exposures 1 per window with 3-7 second away for rimfire.
2. 7 x 3 second random exposures 1 per window with 8-12 second away for air.
3. 7 x 2 second exposure in sequence with 2 second away top left - top right, then bottom left to right. Rapid fire mode.
We added the first 2 new modes to allow things like setting up hostile and friendly targets and leaving it up to the shooter
if they have to shoot or not, a sort of simulated combat mode.
The third mode was for the Semi auto guys who wanted a sequence they could have crack at.
so unit now has 6 modes all accessible from the remote :-
Modes
1. 10 x 3 second random exposure with targets away for 3-7 seconds typical McQueens for rimfire.
2. 10 x 3 second random exposure with targets away for 8-12 seconds typical McQueens for air.
3. Test mode
4. 7 x 3 second random exposure 1 per window with 3-7 second away for rimfire.
5. 7 x 3 second random exposure 1 per window with 8-12 second away for air.
6. 7 x 2 second exposure in sequence with 2 second away, top left - top right, then bottom left to right. Rapid fire mode.

Finally got some videos sorted out here

1st shows component parts
2nd startup sequence
3rd 10 x 3 second random sequence
4th 7 x 3 second random sequence 1 per window.
Reversed flag at top right indicates to the shooter sequence about to start, be ready and end of sequence.
