I reckon this year' best supermarket minced pies are the M &S Frangipane ones. One of my "Gourmet" partner in crime disagreed with me. So we took a statch of 7,62x39 to Bisley on sunday & shoot the lot while scoffing minced pies.

Happy but I do feel a bit sick now ...
Question Froggy, I have a 7.62x39 VZ like your friend there and I've currently got a Vortex Spitfire mount on the magwedge tactical rail that replaces the rear sight and gives you a rail section that pivots up to stay attached and has a section clear for ejection to occur unlike the first one. Is that brass deflector home made or one that can be purchased? I only ask as how much if any brass went back into the ejection port and how well did work in sending the brass away from the scope?
I think he bought it and it seems to do the job perfectly - he has shot a lot with his VZ & never complained of any ejected brass foundits way back in the chamber .

I've seen it for sale on the VZ58rifle website, I think your friend might have got his POSP scope and mount from them. Did the deflector look if it could go on a pica tinny rail at all? The one I've seen appears to fit over the mount but I was wonder if if can fit to a rail section like I've got.
