Ruger 77 MK11 any good?

Hi everyone

Anyone on here own/use one of these and what are your thoughts, I hear accuracy can be a hit or miss with some of them but are there other things to look out for? I was advised to get one in stainless but what are you views?

Not a Ruger fan. Only product of theirs I've given a home to was a .30- Blackhawk (& even thst was purely down to lack of alternative .30-M1 Carbine guns)

Mate had one in .308 laminate and it was a superbly accurate rifle and nicely finished. No idea why they do not hold their money, as they are cracking rifles.

Forgot to say, his was the grey finish and blonde laminate with heavy barrel.

Same model as my dad's main full bore rifle (M77 MkII Varmint).

Very nice, solid Mauser action and V-Bulls just as well as my Tikka T3 (.308). Only slight issue was finding the correct scope mount bases as they are quite specific to the rifle.

Had the trigger been modified on your fathers rifle? I believe they are heavy and need changed / tweaked, someone said they are set about 5lb and aren't very good.

I have a hawkeye in 223 it is accurate and reliable.

Hi Alan,

No modification other than the stand weight adjustment screw on the factory trigger. My T3 (with replacement spring) is definitely lighter, but I used to shoot his M77 regularly and I never found the trigger pull off-putting. I believe that there are Timney units available for the Ruger, while is something you might want to look into if you want more options…

Ruger M77 are the "best kept secret" in the UK rifle market. Over the last 30 years I've picked up a number, moving them on for generally what I paid for them when the need ceased.

Had the concept of a Mk1 Varmint, not the VT, in .308 or .243 on the back burner for a number of years. There's always room in my cabinet for one.

Mine is fine (6.5x55) but only after I binned the hogue stock and replaced it with a $99 Boyd thumbhole. Group size was halved.
