SVD Dragunov

#1 Post by amyjane »

Could anybody recommend the best place to possibly buy a Dragunov in the UK please?

Is Oleg at www.rusmilitary.com still the main man?

Cheers

A few guys on here have bought from Oleg. I know Snayperskaya will be here soon to sing his praise!

Oleg is a sound chap to deal with. Bought my Saiga, accessories, and much ammo from him in the past.

Oleg is your best bet as he is the UK importer of KalashnikovConcern (formerly Izhmash) products such as Tigrs (civilian SVD) and Saigas.Biggest problem at the moment is KalashnikovConcern is on the sanctions list so nothing coming from them at the moment.....but the good news is he has some in stock at the moment.

Oleg is a great guy to deal with and I have had a number of rifles off him and have always been happy with the service. The other option is keep checking Guntrader and Gunmart etc to see if any come up for sale, they do from time to time but tend not to hang around for long.

There are some .308 models around but personally I would say get on in 7.62x54r for the proper Russian experience and be careful as once you have the rifle it can take over and you "need" all the various accesories that go with it!, I've ended up with pretty much a full Soviet-Afghan era snipers kit!!!.

My Russian lady with original Soviet birch laminate stock and handguards, early laminate-backed cheekrest, early spec ribbed receiver cover etc etc....

Typical, when i have spare money Oleg does not have any stock. Now he gets some stock in I'm about to start an extension to the house.

+1 , 100% in its original 7,62x54 caliber. SVD is a kinda "marmite gun", ie : some people are blessed to get it, some simply don't. When I had to learn to ID all the Warsaw Pact hard-wear & play with some. It was love at 1st sight. Be warned, the Dragunov excertes this weird "Devil's own" fascination that will lead to the obsessive collecting Tovarich Snayperskaya mentioned .
It took me over 3 years to find mine but it was so worth it ! What a joy this rifle is and now it probably would be the one last gun I could not part with.

Same here, I waited around 18 months for mine, it belonged to a shooting buddy of mine and he knew I wanted it so when he came to sell I had first refusal......needless to say I snapped his hand off!!!.It came to me with only around 200 rounds through it and was like new and it is also the only rifle I have that I wouldn't sell.
