I have cut 7/8" x 14 tpi (teeth per inch) before with out any issues.
Not sure about 1- 5/64" x 16 tpi but I guess I will have to find out.

I was contemplating cutting a thread on the lathe for a part I was wanting to make. I have decided that it would probably not work for what I intended so I need to find another method.

I was referring to the fact that screws have thread, not teeth.
It was working when i left it...........
